Second Semester: When your once SAT honed vocabulary is reduced to an unintelligible series of 'ums' and 'I don't know"
With summer a good 5 months away, and the current bipolarity of Los Angeles's weather dampening the moods of SoCal residents, the motivation level of much of the general population has been on a slight decline. I really should not be complaining, given the situation in New England, but I'm just going to go right ahead and say it: It's taxing to leave the house dressed for summer then arrive home from work in a downpour! (That was my Monday, and also why the above photos were shot indoors, in case you were curious)
If you've been keeping up with the Fashion Week coverage, you've probably noticed that undone is the new done. Knotted sweaters, boyfriend jeans, and wet hair have been shown on the runway paired with sneakers and simple sandals. Personally, I'm definitely enjoying this sartorial return to basics -- although stilettos are slowly but surely reappearing on the catwalks -- and I think it makes being on-trend all the more comfortable. That's the inspiration behind today's outfit: the casual vibe of the off-the-shoulder shirt is modernized in that it's a dress worn over cropped, metallic waxed jeans and the d'Orsay flats from Vince elevate the entire look. Tying the jacked around my waist? Umm, I don't know?
Splendid dress, vintage denim jacket, Rag & Bone cropped jean, Vince d'Orsay flat, Dior necklace, bangles my grandmother bought in India, earrings from the flea market
